From the model year 2021, Škoda Superb, Karoq and Kodiaq will receive a new, third-generation modular infotainment system. The system can be paired with 8- and 9.2-inch touch screens (i.e. not the standard 6.5-inch) and features features such as a voice-controlled digital assistant, Internet radio, or wireless SmartLink technology.
This is not at all surprising in 2020, but all the more so as Škoda also places a USB-C charging socket at the base of the interior rearview mirror for an extra charge, which can be ideal for charging an on-board camera or smartphone - the latter can also be charged from a wireless socket. In the immediate vicinity of this (i.e. the Qi panel) we find two USB-C charging ports; the standard USB-A is now an outdated technology, which is why it was discarded by Škoda.
It is also a good idea and useful idea that personal settings can be stored in the cloud, so that you can transfer them to other Škoda cars, buy a new one or rent one for a holiday or service. Up to 14 person profiles can be set, and not only seat and mirror settings, but also assistance service availability, air conditioning settings, and lighting and digital instrumentation programming can be stored and retrieved.
Incidentally, all the features listed above will also appear in the lower-middle-class Kamiq and Scala models of the 2021 model year.
