According to ACEA's representative trade organization in Europe, according to ACEA, in August - which is one of the weakest months of the car market turnover - the number of cars placed on the market in the European Union increased by 31.2 percent to 1,132 million in August.
The largest growth was in August in Romania, 112.3 percent, 64.3 percent in Poland, 58.2 percent in Lithuania.
The high growth in August is attributable to the introduction of the new emission measurement method, WLTP. From September 1, only new vehicles under the WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) emission test can only be put on the market in the EU as soon as possible after the actual workload is being modeled more than earlier.
The number of postings in August, together with high annual growth, is below the 1,274 million in July and 1,569 million in June as August is a seasonally weak month. In July, it was 10.5 percent in June and 5.2 percent higher in June than a year earlier.
In the first eight months of the year, the number of new cars placed in circulation in the EU increased by 6.1 percent to 10.8 million, largely due to the high growth in the summer months. The highest growth was in Romania, 47.5 percent, in Lithuania 32.2 percent, in Hungary by 31.0 percent, and in Croatia by 22.6 percent. Growth in Spain was 14.6 per cent in Spain, 8.9 per cent in France and 6.4 per cent in Germany.
In August this year, 12,931 new cars were sold in Hungary, 45.0 percent more than in August 8915. In January-August, 95 724 new cars were sold in Hungary, 31.0 percent more than the number of 73 099 placed on the market in the same period of 2017.
