In an interview published on Friday, the politician said that the fate of the transport center also depends on the success of the electronic ticketing system.
“If the new ticketing system is not contracted to the BKK, we are very likely to eliminate the transport center. In the near future the fate of the BKK will definitely be overcome, ”said István Tarlós.
Speaking of the electronic ticketing system, he said there were two different contracts. The capital has signed a framework grant agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; it is still alive, with no financial consequences.
The other agreement, which was amended several times, was concluded by BKK independently, bilaterally with the contractor. This contract was not seen by the city administration, the general assembly. This is what the transport center has canceled, which is why it will probably be a civil case with the contractor for years, said István Tarlós.
However, the most important thing for the capital is that they are now sure that they can connect to the integrated state electronic ticketing system, ”he added.
He said that the MÁV, Volán, would develop a modern electronic ticketing system by the end of 2020, which would benefit both Budapest and rural people.
