Sixt rent-a-car, which provides rental car services, opened its new technical base in Vecsés, near Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, the AutoWallis Group informed MTI on Tuesday.
Wallis Autókölcsönző Kft., a subsidiary of the AutoWallis Group, representing the Sixt brand, created the 1,349 square meter technical base with a total of 210 parking spaces by renovating and transforming the existing structures on a property of approximately 6,000 square meters.
The total budget of the investment was HUF 705 million, for which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade provided HUF 282 million competitiveness-enhancing non-refundable support. AutoWallis financed the part over and above the state subsidy with funds received from green bonds issued last year.
In the announcement, it was emphasized that with the investment, AutoWallis is prepared for the upsurge in tourism, for the even more cost-effective operation of Sixt, and for the quick service of other mobility services that the group may launch later, such as car sharing and fleet management.
According to the information, the green investments of Sixt's new technical base were implemented by ALTEO, based on the cooperation agreement between the two companies established last year. ALTEO installed a solar panel system with a capacity of 50 kilowatts (kW) on the property, created 13 electric charging points, and prepared the system so that an energy storage can be connected to it later.
Gábor Dévai, managing director of Wallis Autókölcsönző Kft., member of the AutoWallis board of directors, highlighted in the announcement that the traffic at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport increased by 987 percent in the first quarter compared to the first quarter of 2021, during this period Sixt more than doubled the number of rental events and the number of rental days increased by 29.2 percent to 39,185.
The shares of AutoWallis Nyrt. are listed in the premium category of the Budapest Stock Exchange.
