What a dream becomes a reality when one of the biggest toy manufacturers takes his car in his garage.
Hot Wheels, the American toy manufacturer, has announced that Mattel is making a model car for the 50th birthday of a small car that will appeal to them.
The criterion was that the underlying vehicle, which fits into the universe of Hot Wheels, would look crazy enough. The call was finally won by a car builder named Lous Rodriguez who applied for a jet-driven car called 2JetZ.
The tubular aluminum structure is actually driven by a Nissan 300ZX engine in the form of a six-cylinder unit with a strong 627 hp. It is a serious construction, because a Subaru WRX STI has been integrated into the drive chain to drive the rear wheels through the six-speed gearbox.
So, Hot Wheels and Matel can be said to have chosen a proper foundation to miniaturize a real vehicle, but when exactly 2JetZ appears as a toy car, it hasn't been published yet. In any case, the car builder is honored.
Hot Wheels has so far made less than 25,000 small cars in the past half century.
