Strict standards and the coronavirus are said to have set the strongest Ford Focus out of their feet, but a spokesman for the brand said there was early speculation about the RS.
Rumors have popped up from more and more places these days that the Ford Focus ST remains the most powerful compact on offer. The Ford Focus RS faces several difficulties now. Due to stricter emission standards, they would have to connect a 48-volt mild hybrid drive to the 2.3-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine, and due to the success of the previous generation, a special all-wheel drive with drift mode could not be left out of the formula.
The loss of revenue due to the coronavirus doesn't suggest much good either, but a spokesman for CarAdvice said it was "too early to speculate on the future of the Focus RS."
He added that the new C2 floorboard used at Focus is "a highly advanced and technology-packed architecture that can accommodate a number of efficient powertrains."
So much for sure, it won’t be an easy thing to do as Hyundai develops the Veloster, which is close to the i30 N but is even more percussive, with steam power, there’s the Renault Megane RS and the Mercedes-AMG A35 and A45, which are setting more and more records. The latter are also equipped with all-wheel drive with drift mode.
