The Ford Focus is revamped: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, improved connectivity technologies and a mild hybrid petrol engine will be added to the lower-middle-class family car.
The 48-volt mild hybrid technology brings a 17-percent lower fuel consumption to the Ford Focus’s one-liter engine compared to the 1.5-liter, 150-horsepower engine.
The belt-driven EcoBoost Hybrid unit with integrated starter / generator unit is available in 125 and 155 hp versions. Thanks to the extra 20 Nm of torque of the electric motor, the compression ratio of the motor and the filling pressure could be reduced, thus improving the gas response and reducing fuel consumption: according to the old NEDC standard, we can count on 4.1 liters / 100km. Roller shut-off as well as a programmable start-stop function (switching on at 15, 20 or 25 km / h) also contribute to better energy consumption.
Other enhancements include a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel that harmoniously integrates with a rounded top edge, emergency forecasting based on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications to be launched before the end of the year, a wireless smartphone charger, and a number of driver support technologies .
