The elegant sibling of VW Golf, Audi’s compact hatchback, has also received the group’s increased-capacity plug-in hybrid powertrain. Built on a 150-horsepower 1.4-liter petrol engine and an electric motor integrated into a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the 204-horsepower, 350 Nm-torque powertrain is the same as the more recent Volkswagen Golf.
The car accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.6 seconds and has a top speed of 227 km / h. Its average consumption has not yet been measured according to the WLTP standard, but according to the old NEDC standard it consumes 1.4-1.5 liters per 100 kilometers, with an average CO2 emission of 30-34 g / km.
So far, there is nothing new, however, the capacity of the lithium-ion battery pack under the rear seats is now 13.0 kWh, which is about 48 percent more than the capacity of the previous PHEV unit. Above the outside temperature of minus 28 ° C, the car can always be started in electric mode - because with one charge you can cover up to 67 kilometers according to the WLTP standard (NEDC value: 78 km), about twenty more than the previous generation model. The purely electric top speed is 140 km / h.
It is assumed that sooner or later a more powerful version of the same powertrain, tuned to 245 horsepower, will also appear on the Audi A3 range.
