In Slovenia, highway lighting will be turned off at night on the highway sections where this is permitted by law, the Slovenian Highway Management Company (DARS) announced on Thursday.
The company expects to save 2,000 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, i.e. ten percent of the usual consumption, they added.
In its press release, DARS wrote: it proactively decided in favor of the measure, in order to alleviate the energy crisis.
The lights are turned off on the on-ramps and on-ramps of highways and expressways, as well as on open sections. In tunnels, junctions, intersections of physically separated lane roads and rest areas, they will be adjusted to the minimum requirements - they emphasized.
In DARS maintenance centers, outdoor lighting is only switched on when necessary. These measures will remain in effect until further notice - read the statement.
