If they step in there, 1,500 newton meters will crash into the rear axle of this Mustang race car, and eight seconds later it will already be scaling 270 - all without emissions.
Ford completed its first factory e-dragster. Built on the basis of the Mustang, the Cobra Jet 1400 carries its most important technical feature on behalf of the prototype: the electric motor has 1,400 horsepower and a maximum torque of approximately 1,500 Nm.
This promises a time of just over 8 seconds in a quarter mile in a race situation; then the car speeds 274 km / h on the finish line. These are theoretical numbers, the car hasn’t been tested live yet, but Ford promises the car will show what it can do later this year. By the way, Ford has been building factory acceleration racing cars under the name Cobra Jet since 1968. The venomous snake perched in front of the rear wheel is a must-have element of style, as is the convex power dome on the hood - the latter, of course, has no function on the electric car.
