The fifth generation Toyota RAV4 comes to Europe with virtually a single hybrid drive chain, with technical bases promising car driving features.
The newly developed, two-liter, direct injection petrol engine (coupled with CVT transmission and torque vector control) will only be episodic, and Toyota will clearly focus on the 2.5-liter hybrid drive chain, which offers 90% (!) Of European sales.
The pre-existing, 197 hp petrol-electric unit has a more modern drive chain with 218 front wheel drive, 222 horsepower overall, the latter now using an extra electric motor, i-AWD technology improved. The average fuel consumption is 4.4 l / 100 km and the CO2 emission is 100 g / km. A full torque of 0-80 percent can be delivered to the rear axle, and the new system can control the rotating wheel so the vehicle does not get lost when one of the driven wheels enters the air.
The torsional strength of the model based on the TNGA GA-K floor plate increased by one and a half times, the center of gravity was moved as deeply as possible, and the distribution of mass in the longitudinal and transverse directions was taken care of. 59 percent of the total weight is borne by the front axle.
The steering wheel is now a rudder on the rack, and instead of the four season tires so far, RAV4 gets summer tires. The optimized chassis and rear double-crank arm design minimize side-lapping without compromising comfort.
