Dávid Vitézy announced that Volánbusz has published its timetable database in the GTFS format, which has become an international standard in recent years. He noted: the database is updated daily, can be used freely and is available free of charge at https://www.volanbusz.hu/hu/menetrendek/gtfs.
Dávid Vitézy wrote that making the GTFS information (General Transit Feed Specification) public allows anyone to display Volánbusz schedule data in their own travel planning software.
"This opens up new opportunities for the development of applications using bus traffic information," he noted.
The Secretary of State added: "the GTFS format defines a database structure that can be used to manage the data of any public transport network".
He recalled: a decade ago, the Budapest Transport Center, which he led at the time, was the first to make GTFS data open and accessible to travel planners, and since then MÁV-START, GYSEV and MÁV-HÉV have also opened their similar databases.
