Is it worth buying a used winter tire? Does the rubber brand count? Review of a Hevesi rubber tire in the winter rubber theme.
A young man from Heves, Kristóf Tóth uploaded the following video on his YouTube YouTube channel, which tells his own experiences about the most common issues related to winter tires. Do not regard what is said in the video as truth, but rather as opinion.
As stated in the video, according to the recommendations, it is highly recommended for winter tires to be installed at temperatures below 7 ° C. Today's state-of-the-art tires, according to manufacturers' more or less unanimous opinion, tolerate various environmental impacts until ten years of age without significant deterioration, but after ten years there is a rapid deterioration in the composition of the rubber composite, the rubber hardens, which slips faster on a slippery road.
It is worth noting that winter tires are generally considered as winter rubber in Europe with a depth of 4 mm. If the tire surface is worn under it, it can still be used as a summer tire. The minimum profile depth required by law in Hungary is 1.6 mm for winter tires. Some rubber manufacturers are already campaigning for their products to provide an adhesion of up to 1.6 mm.
