A recreational vehicle replaces the Lodgy, but the three rows of seats remain.
Dacia is developing an extra-spacious recreational vehicle based on the new Sandero floor plate (CMF-B), quotes French magazine L'Argus as Carscoops. Thanks to the extended wheelbase and increased rear overhang, the car will accommodate three rows of seats and seven people in spite of the small car foundations.
The model, now known only as an internal RJI codename, which has been fluttering for half a year, will replace the best seat / price ratio on the European market, the Lodgy, sometime in a year and a half.
Although the body shape will be more fashionable, the engine offerings won’t change much: the standard 1.0- and 1.3-liter petrol turbocharged engines will be the backbone of the range, with a 12-volt mild hybrid and LPG version expected as well. Still, we expect an important innovation: the new Clio 140-horsepower full hybrid powertrain.
The new model could be the third SUV in Dacia’s palette after the Electric Spring arrives next to the Duster next year. The biggest recreational vehicle will also do well in terms of prestige: an autonomous emergency braking system, blind spot monitoring and other driver assistance systems are also expected to be on offer.
