Well for racing, obviously. A Japanese drift champion is building an insane structure out of the Toyota Yaris.
With its variable all-wheel drive and three-cylinder turbo engine, the Toyota GR Yaris is a rather extravagant hot hatch. No wonder, as this is a homologation copy of the WRC race car.
Japanese car racer Saito Daigo also bought a copy of it, even though he is not rallying, but drifting, not unsuccessfully. Sure, the 261 horsepower is little and the four-wheel drive is too much to drift, but don’t worry: the 40-year-old master came up with a solution for both.
The 1.6-liter, three-cylinder engine, for example, has been quasi-doubled: it has been thrown out and replaced with a 3.0-liter, in-line 2JZ block, the legendary powerplant for the Toyota Supra Mk4. This is planned to be tuned to 1000 horsepower - this is a routine intervention in tuning circuits at this block.
A bigger task is to make the all-wheel drive rear-wheel drive. The creator has not yet provided details on how to do this, but since we have seen this before from another drift mage, we believe it will go without a hitch.
