The British Litchfield increased the engine power of the Toyota GR Yaris by a good 15%. The 1.6-liter turbo engine has thus crossed the magical three hundred mark.
Modifying the engine control, the power has been increased from 261 at the factory to over 300 horsepower, with torque of 400 Nm instead of 360 - the former a tight 15 per cent and the latter a generous 10 per cent boost.
During the modification, attention was paid to driveability, the extra performance is evenly and predictably. The user can choose between the default setting and tuning from a smartphone application. The plug & play performance boosting box, which requires no further intervention, costs only 600 British pounds (245 thousand HUF).
If that’s not enough, a mechanical chassis conversion is also available, with two-way adjustable shock absorbers, a 20 mm increased track width, tighter bushings and discreet planting. In the new configuration, the tendency to tip and nod sideways is almost completely eliminated, but it is recommended to avoid poor quality roads - the standard GR Yaris, as it is designed as a rally racing car, runs confidently on even mild dirt roads.
Litchfield is also willing to remove the exhaust system choke, but even the particulate filter has been removed, and individual outlets, a rear muffler drum, and a complete stainless steel racing exhaust kit have also been developed.
However, the most important change was made in the passenger compartment: new seat rails were designed to bring the seating position 40 mm deeper, remedying the GR Yaris ’only critical point. This way, the helmet can already fit under the roof, and there is even room for the helmet frame also offered by Litchfield.
