Real schizophrenic work on the Toyota RAV4 TRD Off-road version: a sophisticated, crossover brutal off-road vehicle. But it would be ideal for a fun family car if you could get it with us.
Toyota Racing Development is a truly versatile company: one day, the next generation of Supra's motorsport-inspired aerodynamic package, and then they will build a powerful off-road vehicle from an RAV4. Of course, we are not surprised at this latter, we have seen them before, but those works have been based on chassis models, and now they have carved offroad champions from a self-supporting leisure vehicle.
Of course not so much that they are reworking their all-wheel drive system, so in a really tough situation, the car still doesn't work. However, using the experience gained with the RAV4 rally racing car, the chassis has been modified: new springs are retrofitted and shock absorbers are retrofitted. The spring paths are longer, the jumping has become softer, but at the same time, the car hasn't started to sway at bends and bumps.
The rims have been optimized for rough terrain, rugged off-road tires with reinforced shoulders. The basic equipment is the all-wheel drive, the driving force between the axles and the dynamically dividing torque vector control between the two rear wheels and the Multi-Terrain Select mode switch. As a hybrid, it would be really exciting to have such a hot, almost-off-road vehicle, but Toyota didn't experiment: they stayed with the 2.5-liter petrol engine (available on the US market).
The 1.5 ton RAV4 TRD Off-road springs and brake calipers are red, summoning contrasting seams in the passenger compartment. The specially sewn seat trim is made of durable material, the floor mats are designed for extra stress.
