For five years, Toyota has been able to speed up its electric car program for its original designs. Chinese partners spin on battery development.
With two Chinese manufacturers, Toyota has entered into a cooperation agreement with CATL, the world's leading producer of electric cars, and with the world's leading battery manufacturer, to accelerate its switchover plans.
Originally, the company set itself the goal of producing 4.5 million (hybrid or plug-in hybrid) cars per year by 2030, and one million clean (battery or fuel cell) cars. As a result of this development, this goal is in principle available five years earlier.
By the early 2020s, the first electric cars will arrive, and by 2021 there will be at least three of them in Europe; or next year, the dwarfs that we thought they were going to use only in pilot projects will enter the market next year. Electric cars include leisure vehicles (Subaru), urban types (Daihatsu) and freight forwarders (PSA).
At the same time, it is not just about the development of cars, but a complete electric space in which electric vehicles play an integral role in smart cities.
