The electric Volkswagen will be produced by the Zwickau facility, which once had the Trabant rolled out. In this way, the motorist wants to push Tesla in the electric car market.
The latest announcement by Volkswagen that a production unit in Zwickau will be transformed into a sort of war message will be transformed into one of the largest electric car factories in Europe with a yearly production of 330,000, bringing Tesla to competition.
The cost of the transformation will cost EUR 1.2 billion to the German giant company, and I would like to start production in November 2019, with a new model, the Hatchback ID Neo, and from 2021 on six different types of rolls off the production line.
The former Trabant factory is currently producing Golfs. The transformation is the basic step for the Volkswagen Group to become electro-electric.
