Volkswagen has announced more details about its soon-to-be-introduced electric crossover. This time we can take a look at the cabin of ID.4.
It will hold its world premiere even in September, and the Volkswagen ID.4, the brand’s electric recreational vehicle, will hit the market before the end of the year. Taking advantage of the possibilities offered by the modular electric floor plate, the car offers a category of space above the standard space, writes the factory information, while the boot is not small: 543 liters in the default position.
The driving environment has been designed with the minimalist tone recently expected from electric cars. To the left of the steering wheel, outside of the new Golf’s familiar electronic lighting and window heating control panel, we can barely find a traditional push button on the instrument panel. The menus for the air conditioner, emergency system, mode switch and multimedia system have been given separate switches. Of the latter, volume and two-way temperature control were fortunately highlighted.
The instrument cluster is digital, but smaller than what fashion would dictate; the transmission (or, in this case, reversing) can be controlled by a rotary / pressure unit located on the edge of the display.
There is also a sunroof and mood lighting that can be varied in 30 shades, both optional. On the other hand, the light bar running under the windshield has basic equipment and even an important function: the car communicates with the driver through this. Indicates that the drive chain is ready for operation, whether the doors are closed or open. It confirms incoming calls, driver assistance and navigation system alerts with a light signal. Moreover, if the navi deems it necessary to change lanes, it flashes to suggest to the pilot to reclassify.
The interior color scheme is simple and soothing. The base color is brown or gray, the fittings can be white in addition to glossy black (piano lacquer).
VW also draws attention to the ID.4’s state-of-the-art seats: on the one hand because of their ergonomically designed, waist-friendly structure (and built-in massage function) and on the other hand because their upholstery is free of all animal materials and 20 percent recycled PET bottles.
