On Friday, Volvo Cars AB, a car manufacturer based in Sweden and majority owned by China, reported a 12 percent increase in its sales in November, and also announced that the share of electric cars in sales had increased.
Based on the announcement, the car manufacturer sold 59,000 cars in November, 12 percent more than a year earlier. "Overall demand for the company's cars remains strong, particularly for the Recharge range of pure electric and plug-in hybrid cars," the company said in a statement.
The rate of annual growth accelerated, as in October sales exceeded last October's level by 7 percent.
Fully electric vehicles accounted for 20 percent of the November sales of Volvo Cars, which is majority-owned by the Chinese automotive concern Geely Holding, and 15 percent in October. Models that can be charged from an external power source, including models that are not fully electric, accounted for 42 percent of sales in November, compared to 37 percent in October.
