Volvo's flagship debut is the company's new mild hybrid engine family. Type B drive chains achieve an energy consumption reduction of up to 15% with intense brake energy recovery.
With its new rims, renewed color range and retracted cooling mask, XC90 is the first member of the new generation of Volvo models.
Another novelty is the six-seat configuration: the 3, 4 (Excellence), 5 or 7-seater passenger compartments now seem to require a car with a 3 × 2 seat arrangement if you want to. However, let's stay with the essence: the new mild hybrid option, which will be upgraded to standard on every Volvo within a few years.
This 'B' drive technology, which also offers by-wire (purely electronic) brake control, seems to be available for T8 hybrids, with a peak performance of 420 hp and a 15% longer electric range due to new batteries. Other features of the XC90 include City Safety and Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Active Steering, the Automatic Emergency Braking Trace Control, and the Frontal Collision Mitigation System, which debuted at XC60. Following the compatibility of Apple Car Play so far, Android Auto and Spotify integration is now available on the XC90. The renewed model can be ordered and its production will begin in May.
