The next generation of the Volkswagen Amarok and Ford Ranger can partially have a common technical content, according to a regional director at Volkswagen.
In an Australian car magazine, GoAuto, Volkswagen Group's local marketing director Michael Bartsch has revealed that Amarok needs to significantly reduce costs. The pickup is currently produced by the company in Germany and Argentina, and neither the high wages of the former, nor the unstable currency of the South American country are ineffective.
According to Bartsch, it could be a solution if the new generation model was developed jointly with another manufacturer - say Ford. "We are considering every opportunity, all roads are open. I would not be honest if I said we did not have anything with Ford, but I'm not in a position to comment on anything. "
In any case, you should pay attention to the two manufacturers so that co-operation does not come as Mercedes X-Class / Nissan Navara or as a Fiat Fullback / Mitsubishi L200. "All my respect is Mercedes, but I think that single-branded, stable-market brands should be more careful to preserve their individuality."
