The green license plate for purely electric motorcycles will be available from Wednesday, August 11, 2021, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) has announced. As a result, those who run an electric motor are also exempt from paying various taxes and fees. They do not have to pay registration tax, remunerated property transfer tax or motor vehicle tax. With a green license plate, you can also park for free in many cities.

Owners can apply for the environmental classification at a technical examination or at a separate official inspection. New engines are automatically assigned a green license plate. This also applies to all-electric mopeds and quads. Of the latter, there could be 150-250 in the country, according to ITM estimates, and 150 of two-wheel electric motors.

A decision was made this spring that all-electric motorcycles could also be fitted with a green license plate.

For example, the price of a BMW CE 04 electric motor is 4.5 million forints, but you don't really get an “electric motor” for less than one and a half to two million forints, so this discount can again be an advantage for those who are already wealthy.
