Earlier this year, the winter tire replacement season began, with tires getting nearly 5 percent more expensive than last year, the Tire Dealer said with MTI.
According to the announcement, the company's 11 service outlets in Budapest already have more than 70 percent of the utilization of assembly stations, and the big attack is expected for the next few weeks. Owing to the national labor shortage, there will certainly be parts of the country where motorists can replace summer tires only after a considerable number of weeks of waiting.
Tires have risen by about 5 per cent this year due to the increase in the forint flow and, on the other hand, the increase in the prices of basic raw materials for coal - carbon derivatives, synthetic and natural rubber, and steel. Thus, in two years, the price increase for some products may reach 10 percent.
According to data previously provided by the European Tire and Rubber Manufacturers Association, in 2016, manufacturers sold nearly 2.4 million new tires in Hungary, a record of seven years.
