The BMW X5 and X6 xDrive40d are the 48-volt mild hybrid systems. They bring lower consumption and better dynamism.
More and more models are featuring the mild hybrid drive of the BMW 48-volt starter and optional battery. First came the 520d, then the 320d and the X3 and X4 with 190-horsepower turbocharged 190 hp. And now the X5 with the six-cylinder diesel engine and its sleek rooftop counterpart, the X6.
At 1,750-2,250 rpm, the BMW's 3-liter turbo diesel delivers 700 Nm of torque. Give it 340hp at 4400rpm. Variable turbine geometry charging and injection pressures of up to 2,700 bar give good reaction time and clean combustion. Meets Euro 6d emission standards.
Added to this is the mild hybrid system, which charges its 48-volt battery to recover braking energy. The 11-horsepower not only brings fuel economy (5.8-6.4 l / 100 km, according to the factory), but also more dynamic accelerations. The BMW X5 xDrive40d accelerates to 100 km / h in 5.5 seconds.
