Team Engstler took part in the second round of the German TCR series this weekend, Norbert Michelisz, on the abbreviated version of the Nürburgring Grand Prix. The Hungarian driver of Hyundai won the race on Saturday, and on Sunday he finished the inverted grid in second place, behind the winner, also Hyundai Harald Proczyk, ahead of Dominic Fugel of Honda.
As a reigning champion, he can cut him to the 2020 World Car Tour (WTCR) 2020 season on September 11-13, with the first round scheduled to take place at the Salzburgring. The fourth stop of the six-round season will be the Hungaroring, which the field will visit on October 17-18.
There was some interlude in this weekend’s round of the German TCR, due to one of the judges ’judgments made after the first race. After Michelisz was not eligible for points as a guest actor, Mike Halder was awarded 25 points for first place, but the German was disqualified for stewards finding the firefighting equipment in Honda inactive.
Halder said after paralysis, the parc fermé deactivated the fire extinguisher in the car to prevent it from activating when disembarking. Referring to the decision, he and his brother, Michelle, withdrew from the league with immediate effect, while also announcing that they would not start in more ADAC-supervised series in the future.
