The Motorsport Games, i.e. the "Olympics of motor sports", organized by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), will start on Thursday in and around the Paul Ricard racetrack in France. represent their nation and compete for medals in the various categories.
At the first motorsport games held in 2019, representatives of 51 countries competed in six categories, but in the current event, competitors from 80 countries will participate, and the competitions will take place in 17 categories.
Hungary is represented by 11 people, they will be interested in eight machine classes. According to the information of the Hungarian National Automobile Association (MNASZ), László Martin and Dávid Berendi are in Rally2, Zénó Kovács in Formula 4, Kristóf Csuti in junior autocross, Ádám Szabó and Lilla Horn in go-kart slalom, Balázs Juráncsik in go-kart sprint, Balázs Juráncsik in slalom Bognár Martin and Tünde Deák, Péter Utasi in drifting, Kristóf Artzt in e-sports, i.e. among the simulators.
The Motorsport Games could not be held in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus epidemic, but even then it was known that the next venue would be the Paul Ricard racetrack and its surroundings.
At this year's "autosport Olympics", among the disciplines without Hungarian competitors are the adult autocross competition, the long-distance race featuring GT3 and LMP3 racing cars, the GT and GT sprint, as well as the long-distance go-kart race and touring car. In the rally, in addition to Rally2, the Rally4 machine class and the Historic category, which features classic racing cars, will also clash at the event in France.
The Motorsport Games will begin on Wednesday (today) evening with an opening ceremony in Marseille, and from Thursday morning the free practice sessions and qualifiers in the various categories will begin.
Medals will be awarded in each machine class on Saturday and Sunday. As for the categories of interest to Hungary: Rally 2 will run until Saturday evening, Formula 4 will have two races, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, the finals in autocross juniors will be on Saturday afternoon, and the finals in go-karts in slalom and sprint will also take place on Sunday , as in slalom, and the drifters and simulator riders will already fight for the medals on Saturday.
