The last Porsche 911 Speedster is not only the last piece in a 1948-piece limited series, but also the last 991 produced (the generation of the Porsche 911 manufactured between 2011-2019). The brand’s 70th birthday was celebrated with this series and a beautiful end to the most successful 911 generation of all time. Such pieces usually go to museums or to a really special customer, but Porsche has now decided otherwise: they have been offered the proceeds from the car to fight the coronavirus that keeps the world at home. The seven-day auction was watched by 48,500, well above average. In the end, the car had the highest bid of $ 550,000. This is an amount corresponding to more than 170 million forints, so it is almost double the original purchase price. That amount and an additional $ 500,000 went to United Way Worldwide, which fights coronavirus.
The limited edition uses the basics of the GT3, but true to the Speedsters ’tradition, it got a flatter windshield and a manually movable canopy. Its 4.0-liter, six-cylinder intake boxer engine delivers 510 horsepower, cleverly using the six-speed manual transmission to accelerate to 100 in 4 seconds. Its top speed is 310 km / h.
As mentioned in our previous article, the 510-horsepower sports car comes with a 911 Speedster Heritage Design Chronograph watch, its owner can view the Porsche development center, and professional pilots give it a lesson in driving.
