The Formula One field will be tested in Barcelona in February and at the season-opening weekend in Bahrain in March, the organizers of the World Speed Car Championship confirmed on Wednesday. Two more F1 stalls, Alpine - the team of two-time world champion Fernando Alonso - and Alpha Tauri have announced when their 2022 race car will be unveiled.
The first three-day testing before the 2022 season will take place in Barcelona from 23 to 25 February, and in Sahir (Bahrain) from 10 to 12 March. between, teams can test their racing cars and innovations.
The season of a record 23 races will also start in Bahrain on the weekend of March 18-20.
In F1, rule changes that would have been in place last year will be introduced this year, but due to the coronavirus epidemic, it was decided to postpone it for another year in 2020.
Race cars are undergoing significant transformation accordingly, mostly from an aerodynamic point of view, with the aim of facilitating overtaking and the development of duels. Instead of the previous 13-inch tires, 18-inch so-called litigation tires will be used this year, which will be one of the most spectacular changes.
On Wednesday, two more stalls, the Alpine F1 Team and Red Bull’s branch team, Scuderia Alpha Tauri, also announced when they will be showcasing their car and coloring this year.
The line-up for the team will begin at Aston Martin on Feb. 10, followed by McLaren a day later. Ferrari’s new race car will be unveiled on Feb. 17, and constructor-world champion Mercedes W13 will be unveiled on Feb. 18.
