Electric articulated buses are being tested in Budapest, the vehicles can be used for free travel on bus lines 7 and 8E - the Budapest Transport Center (BKK), BKV Zrt. and ArrivaBus informed MTI in a joint statement on Tuesday.
According to the communique, BKK and its two service providers are testing the most modern articulated electric city buses from Mercedes and MAN in a real traffic environment.
The fully electric MAN Lion's City 18E city bus, tested by ArrivaBus, is in service until Saturday on line 8E, which also crosses the city center. The Mercedes eCitaro G electric articulated bus tested by BKV Zrt. will be available on bus line 7 until next Monday, and on bus line 8E between May 24 and 30.
The test buses are marked e8E on line 8E, and e7 on line 7, they wrote.
According to the announcement, the MAN Lion's City 18E, 18-meter articulated bus, guarantees a range of about 300 kilometers under all conditions. This is ensured by the battery capacity of 640 kWh, which is still outstanding today, of which 512 kWh of energy is available to the bus. The modern electric bus has a low floor along its entire length and double air conditioning serves the needs of passengers.
The Mercedes eCitaro G type electric articulated bus is also 18 meters long, air-conditioned and has a low floor throughout. The bus is powered by a battery with a total capacity of 441kWh, with which it can travel up to 340 kilometers in urban conditions.
It was announced: you can travel for free on the test flights.
The Budapest Mobility Plan was adopted by the Budapest Mobility Plan in 2019. One of its important objectives is the use of modern, environmentally friendly vehicles in the capital's public transport. In the past period, BKK has already tested fully electric buses several times in cooperation with ArrivaBus and BKV Zrt. - they reminded in the announcement.
