Hybrid cars in the city are thrilling, but they get lost on the highway - at least this is public opinion. However, according to a British test, this is not always true.
A British Product Test Publication, Which? editors have been measuring the fuel consumption of 123 different car types since the beginning of 2017, compared to official CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
Not surprised by the editors that Toyota hybrid vehicles dominated the field in urban environments (the Prius, the Prius Plug-in, and the C-HR Hybrid on the podium), but the hybrids performed exceptionally well on the highway, where it should have been bleeding, according to public opinion.
In the 123-member field, the Toyota Prius was the second, and the Toyota Prius Plug-In finished the fourth season with the best fuel consumption - 5.4, the latter having an average fuel consumption of 5.7 l / 100 km on the high-speed highway test. In the summary, both models on the podium, Which? According to the editors' calculations, the “… annual fuel cost of two hybrids by 180 pounds (65 thousand forints) is lower than the most economical non-hybrid type in the survey. The annual operation of the Prius is approximately 400 pounds (145 thousand forints) for the average diesel models and 450 pounds (163 thousand forints) for the average gasoline.
