Hyundai-Kia Group is developing a solar panel charging system for internal combustion engine, hybrid and battery powered electric vehicle charging.
The technology is introduced in three steps: the first is to build a hybrid actuator system, followed by semi-transparent solar cells that will charge the starter battery for petrol and diesel vehicles, and finally battery electric vehicles can receive a low-voltage solar roof.
The silicon cells of the first generation system are directly integrated into the metal roof, which can charge 30-60 percent of the battery on an average day.
The second series offers a system that can be combined with a panoramic sun roof; The previously used solution for internal combustion engines can reduce vehicle consumption and CO2 emissions by relieving the engine.
The third generation system is currently in test phase.
